Sacred Heart of Jesus

Heart of Jesus, source of every blessing, I love you and, with deep sorrow for my sins, I offer you this poor heart of mine.  May your grace help to make me humble, patient, pure and obedient to your will.  Grant that I may live in you and for you.  Give me comfort in my afflictions, health of body, assistance in my daily needs, your blessing on all that I do and the grace of a holy death.  Amen.

Welcome to Sacred Heart of Jesus Men's Club Web Site


Logo4_200x242.pngThe Men’s Club offers a chance for men of the Parish to live out their faith, whether it is through service, fellowship, or prayer.  All Catholic men of the Parish and non-Catholic spouses of ladies of the Parish are eligible to become members of the Men’s Club.  The Men’s Club is devoted to promoting the Catholic faith, sociability, and supporting parish and community charitable efforts.

The Men’s Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month, September through May, at 5:00 PM in the Lower Hall of the Church.  If you would like to attend one of our meetings simply contact one of our members and let them know you’d like to attend.  It’s that easy.

We have two major fundraisers each year, a chicken bake in the fall and a fish bake during Lent.  We support Jackson House, Samaritan Ministries, Paul Bewie Boys & Girls Club, McCauly Center Meals on Wheels, St. John’s School in Hot Springs,Our Lady of Fatima School in Benton, and Sacred Heart Christmas Baskets, among others.  There are typically several men from the Club that are actively involved in most of these organizations.

On the social front, aside from our meetings, we start and end our year by inviting the spouses and widows of former members to our Kickoff Dinner in September and our Steak Fry in May.  We also have a Christmas Dinner wiih wives and widows at our normal dinner meeting in December.  We also have an annual trip to see the Arkansas Traveler Basebal team play at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock in May or June of each year.

The last meeting of the Men's Club 2018-2019 year was held on May 14, 2019 in the Lower Hall of Sacred Heart Church. As is our custum, the last meeting of the year included the wives or dates, and widows of past members, Approximately 117 attended. Optional prayer service at 5:00 PM in the Upper Hall, lead by Deacon Wall Gieringer, was followed by a social gathering in the Lower Hall until 6:00 PM. Dinner,served by emplyees of Johnna's Catering, was followed by a Trivia Night contest conducted by Program Director Don Glinka. Officers for last this year were thanked by President Oliver Field,. They were President - Oliver Field, 1st VP- Rick Martinek, 2nd VP- Mike Webster, Treasurer - Bob Bowman, Secretary - Bill Patterson, Sergeant at Arms - Phil Salcido, Program Director and Past President - Don Glinka.
Those elected at the meeting for the 2019-2020 year are, President - Rick Martinek, 1st VP - Mike Webster, 2nd VP - Phil Salcido, Treasurer - Bob Bowman, Secretary - Bill Patterson, Sergeant at Arms - John Guida, Program Director and Past President - Oliver Field.

The Sacred Heart Catholic Church Men’s Club participated in the Keep Hot Springs Village Beautiful Pickup Campaign on Saturday, April 6.  Seven members, pictured in the attached photo, met at the Coronado Center at 7:30 AM for coffee and donuts supplied by the Village Program organizers along with other organizations participating in the event.  The Men’s Club covered approximately 1 ½ miles of Balearic Road.  This is one of several events that the Men’s Club supports in the Village.

On Saturday, June 23, 2018, 9 members of the Sacred Heart Men's Club, led by President Oliver Field, participated in the Keep The Village Beautiful Campaign.  They met at Coronado Center at 7:30 AM for coffee & donuts and then proceeded to their assigned street for the pickup of any trash.  Their assigned street is Balearic Road from Sacred Heart Church down to Desoto Road, of approximately 1 1/2 miles.  The roadway was relatively clean so only a few bags of trash were collected.

Thanks to those that participated in this event.

The new officers of the Sacred Heart Men's Club for the 2018-2019 fiscal year were elected at the year end meeting on May 8, 2018.

The new officers are:
President - Oliver Field
1st VP - Rick Martinek
2nd VP - Phil Salcido
Treasurer - Bob Bowman
Secretary - Bill Patterson
Sergeant At Arms - Mike Webster
Program Director - Don Glinka

Mike Webster is a new member of the Board. Phil Salcido moves from Sergeant At Arms to 2nd VP. The other officers are carryovers from the 2017-2018 year. Thanks to those that are serving for the coming year.


Buddy Dixon and Steve Schramer retired from the Board and thanks go to them for a job well done.

On Saturday, March 17,  the Sacred Heart Men's Club had10 volunteers, Mike Kerwin, Reb Henry, Mark Leslie, Oliver Field, Ray Hurley, Steve Schramer, Fred Rohrer, Ted Otero, & John Froning participating in the HSV Clean The Streets Day.  Including the time to enjoy the donuts and gather, we had 15 person hours.  Our collections included 9 trash bags, and 1 cardboard box.  Thanks to Bob and Ann Bowman for coordinating the group.  See the attached for a picture of those that helped out.
